Swaledale Sheep

Swaledale and Mule ewes
  • Swaledale and Mule ewes produce purebred stock and crossbred lambs.
  • Mule Ewe lambs, store lambs and draft ewes available for sale from September.
  • Freezer lamb is available for sale.


Belted Galloway Cattle

  • Used for conservation grazing in order to encourage wading birds on the wetter ground.
  • Registered breeding stock for sale

Belgian Bantams are free to roam round the farmyard area
  • We have a variety of hens, some of which are rare breeds.
  • Derbyshire Redcaps are frequently admired by vistors and walkers.
  • Fresh eggs are usually available for purchase.


Upper Booth is a working farm. Depending on when they visit visitors will witness a variety of activities including the annual shearing of the sheep.
  • We are keen to promote sustainable landuse and management.
  • Farm walks and talks can be arranged to meet your interests - please ask.



  • Upper Booth is farmed with conservation in mind. The farm is part of the National Trust's High Peak Estate where the aim is to maintain the landscape and its features and encourage wildlife.
  • In conjunction with DEFRA and the National Trust, a programme of restoring drystone walls is being carried out, and remnant hedges are being replanted. The ditches on an area of pasture have been blocked to re-wet the land in order to encourage wading birds such as snipe, lapwing and curlew.
